In this edit of TALA Talks, Founder and CEO, Grace Beverley will be sharing the inspiration behind the collection as well as highlighting her Court favourites for you to mix and match - the ball's in your court!
Collection Concept
I’ve always been obsessed with vintage sportswear - isn’t it somehow timeless and on-trend at the same time? The idea behind our Court Capsule was to create exactly that - a time capsule with all the best bits of vintage combined with the high performance of today. Think Princess Di fits meet recycled fabrics and silhouettes that sculpt you to the heavens.
I’m SO pleased with how Court has turned out. A beautifully curated capsule of vintage cuts meeting modern capabilities. My favourite part about the capsule might just be the ease in creating outfits - it’s a mix and match free-for-all! But then maybe my favourite part is that vintage wash navy colourway 🥵 or the bouclé branding? It’s all in the details really. All I know is that I’ll be wearing this outfit from summer to winter (cue swapping in the cult-fave zinnias) and back again...
Court Favourites
My favourite outfits from the collection start with the Vintage Navy Volley Sweatshirt, combined with the Ixia Court Seamless Zip Sports Bra and Hosta Court Seamless Bra in the same colourway. Firstly, I look far cooler than I am when I put it on. Secondly, the oversized fit of the sweater combined with the sculpted flattery of the hostas? I can’t… It’s big big vintage energy. Combined with white ankle socks, chunky white trainers and a little bag? Unbelievable.
Before we move on to the next outfit, I need to take a second for the Ixia Court Seamless Zip Sports Bra. As a chesty lady, I struggle everyday to find bras that support in the way I want without making me look like I’m wearing the breast equivalent to a chastity belt. The Ixia bra has sold out enthusiastically every time we’ve launched it, so it just had to come back in the new colourway, and of course in a trusty white (have you seen it paired with the white sweat shorts?). Do NOT sleep on the Ixia. It will blow you away! (All while keeping the girls firmly in place)
My next favourite outfit has to be the grey sweat set - Volley Sweatshirt and Metro Shorts. Again, the ease-of-outfitting is off the chart, and I can see myself wearing it for the next 72 years as I take any call from the comfort of my own living room. It’s athleisure at its best, and its brushed fabric is soft as hell.
I’ll be honest, I’m picky when it comes to shorts. They need to be flattering, easy-to-wear and multifunctional. I want to be able to wear them to bed, to watch TV, to the shops, and of course to work out. The shape of these sweatshorts is not only super flattering, no matter how high waisted you like to wear them, but they’re also super wearable. I WILL be wearing them everywhere I can get away with, and no one can stop me.
